Meet Cari

Cari Thompson is a Southern California native, but traded in the California beaches for Utah’s snow-capped mountains to attend Brigham Young University. While her dream was to major in flute performance, things didn’t work out as she planned. Instead, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Advertising with a minor in Music. And during a media-buying internship in New York City, she unexpectedly discovered her true calling: writing.
After returning from the big city, she weaseled her way into her first copywriting job and worked as a copywriter or copy chief until she had her first baby. At which point, she became a freelance copywriter. While most of her freelance work has been in the tech industry, she doesn’t shy away from content-creation opportunities in new industries.
In fact, writing about complicated processes and technologies for marketing materials was the perfect preparation for writing children’s books. She was able to take concepts that usually confuse younger audiences and write them clearly and simply.
Cari is the mother of three fun kids—Henry, Betsy, and Max—and wife to Doug. If she’s not running around with her kids or writing, she’s probably planning her next trip, playing flute, or working on a home project.
